  Highlights

Abington Pools Open, Swimming Lessons, Swim Team

Abington Township pools, Crestmont and Penbryn, open Saturday, June 20.  Swim Team Registration at both pools begins Saturday.  A time for those trying out will be announced.  Eligible boys and girls range from entering first grade through high school and must be able to swim at least one lap.  Swim team practice will begin the week of June 22. 
Group swimming Lessons in four ability levels from beginner to advanced, for 30 students each, between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Boys and girls must be at least six years old or have completed kindergarten. 
Two three-week sessions: June 29-July 17 and July 20-August 7. 
Registration: June 23, 9:00 a.m. at both pools.  T
Cost: $20 per session. 
Private Lessons can be arranged with the life guards and cost approximately $10 per half hour.
Each pool runs special nights for children and teens.  Check back for postings of summer events.

Free Concert Series for Community

For Abington residents
Enjoy a series of outdoor concerts (rain or shine) on the grounds of the Abington Art Center at Alverthorpe Manor in Jenkintown. 
Thursdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., except Kid Fest which runs 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Grounds open at 6:00 so that concert goers can tour the Art Center galleries and sculpture gardens. 
Bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic if desired.

Infant Sign Language
For babies/toddlers up to age 2
10:30-11:30 a.m.
Guest educator Katy Abbott teaches signs for words and concepts in nature such as “turtle”, “wind” and “spring” as parents and toddlers/babies explore the museum and trails at Briar Bush. Snack is included.
Classes $10 each; additional children are $5.00 each.

Magic Mornings
For 2-3 year-olds with adults
10:30-11:30 a.m.
Toddlers, bring your favorite adult and learn about nature. Make nature-based crafts, hike a trail or touch an animal. Adjacent Thursday and Friday classes duplicate curriculum. Snack included.
Classes $10 firs first child; additional children are $5.00 each.

Preschool Pioneers
For 4-5 year olds
1:00-2:00 p.m.
This nature adventure is a monthly series with hands-on activities, nature hikes, crafts, and stories about the natural world.
Cost: $32/4-day series; $24/3-day series

Nuts for Nature
For 1st-3rd grade students
3:45-4:45 p.m.
Join a Briar Bush educators for an hour-long adventure outdoors. Seasonal activities include live animal programs, hands-on activities, and hikes.
Cost: $32/4-day series; $24/3-day series

Junior Birders Club
For all grades; must be able to read
3:45-4:45 p.m.
Join us for a fun-filled program of watching birds and the places in which they live. You’ll love exploring the trails and Briar Bush’s Bird Observatory all year round! Bring binoculars and field guide, if possible.
Cost: $8/class; $12/field trip
