MISSION: The Abington Community Taskforce (ACT) is a coalition of diverse organizations working together to enhance the effectiveness of programs and services for youth and their families in order to ensure a safe and caring community.

- Proactive Protection and intervention - We are leaders in assessing needs, determining challenges, and inspiring action.

What ACT Provides for the Community
ACT member organizations look for ways to provide needed programs and activities as well as to evaluate and improve on those already in existence for area children and youth.
As a nonprofit organization, ACT is able to partner with its member organizations to develop and sponsor services and programs to fill in gaps where other community services end. Programs and services currently in place are:
- ACT Happenings, a newsletter that is published three times a year to provide information to the community regarding youth- and family-related activities, programs, and support services.
- ACT Website (www.abingtonact.org) where organizations can publicize their youth activities, parenting programs, volunteer needs, special events,, community resources, and timely information to help them carry on their work to further ACT’s mission of creating a safe and caring community.
- ACT Teen Council comprised of 9th through 12th grade students who meet regularly to plan meaningful activities and programs. The Council grew out of ACT’s first two Teen Forums as part of the Taskforce goal to promote greater youth involvement in ACT and to facilitate greater community civic engagement by youth.
- ACT Teen Forum which brings together young people for educational programs that will foster positive peer relationships, healthy decision-making, and enhanced self-confidence. It identifies youth leaders in the community and provides an avenue to bring youth representation to ACT.
- Citizens That Care Recognition Reception to honor individuals and community organizations that have distinguished themselves in their service to the youth of Abington Township and the Borough of Rockledge.
The ACT general membership, comprising representatives from member organizations, meets five times a year (January, March, June, September, and November). In between those meetings, committees also hold meetings. ACT committees include Development, Recognition Reception, Finance, Membership & Marketing, Needs & Resources, Youth Involvement, and Teen Forum. Community groups and organizations who share an interest in ACT's mission are encouraged to attend a general membership meeting and explore a relationship with ACT.
