2003 Citizens That Care Recognition Reception

The Abington Community Taskforce held its second annual Citizens That Care Recognition Reception on April 30, 2003 at Manufacturers' Golf and Country Club in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Members of ACT organizations as well as representatives from other civic, political, religious, and social groups throughout the community attended this gala event.

The evening featured Honored Guest and Keynote Speaker Larry Kane, a long-time Philadelphia news anchor who has expressed his commitment to the community over the years through his many supporting roles and activities, especially on behalf of youth. ACT Co-Chair Audrey Krisbergh, Director, The Parenting Center at Abington, welcomed the Community and presented an overview of ACT. Fellow Co-Chair Leigh Altadonna, Superintendent of Schools, Abington School District, and former ACT Co-Chair William J. Kelly, Abington Township Police Chief, served as Masters of Ceremonies during the awards presentations.

Six community members were recognized for their spirit of leadership and volunteerism in making Abington and Rockledge a safer, more responsible, and caring community. The 2003 Distinguished Service Award was presented posthumously to recognize Mrs. Adele S. Block's dedication to the children and families of Abington/Rockledge through her 25 years of service as a Director on the Abington School Board. New this year, $500 Student Community Service Awards were presented to three graduating seniors in recognition of their outstanding service in the Abington/Rockledge area.
