Reformation Day This marks the anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation on October 31, 1517. It commemorates the day when Dr. Martin Luther, a Roman Catholic monk and university professor, posted his Ninety-Five Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. This act was meant to start an academic debate but triggered the movement in world history known as the Reformation. This day is especially observed in Lutheran churches.
